A POET IN CHERNIHIV

For a breath of a poet,

a breeze comes round.

’Cause burn clay to bricks,

let winds borrow books!

Let burst into bloom of words

clay round the Library.

’Cause burn clay to bricks,

let rains borrow books!

Let burst into bloom of words

clay round Chernihiv.

 *Because my friend sent me an email with photos of the historic building of the Chernihiv Regional Library for the Youth destroyed by bombing, which was erected in the late 19th century. And she told me that many books of Ukrainian and world classics in the library including Taras Shevchenko’s were destroyed.

So, I wrote this poem.

**My friend shows you this poem also on the Ukrainian website for their children and others!
